I am a longtime morning prayer reader and have a question. Perhaps you know the answer. Why are Wednesday morning Psalms always 119, 38, 72 or 101/109? If you don't know, do you have any suggestions for how I could find out? Thanks so much.

I've also noticed the consistent use of Psalm 119 on Wednesdays, but I can't remember whether I've ever learned what the tradition behind that use might be.

I'll post a question to my friends on the General Convention Prayer Book and Liturgy Committee.

If I get an answer, I'll follow up on this comment string.
