Slept in today. No morning Reflection.

Thank you for sleeping in today! I felt compelled to do so myself and it helps to know I'm not the only one who did so. I appreciate your honesty--in this case it may have been as helpful to me as the "reflection" that didn't happen.

Taken totally out of context from today's reading (1 Thessalonians 5:1-11)

"5 for you are all children of light and children of the day; we are not of the night or of darkness. 6 So then, let us not fall asleep as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober; 7 for those who sleep sleep at night..."

Ah. Sleeping in the season of Advent is risky business. You know one of the readings is going to urge us to the seasonal theme -- Stay awake! Be alert! But I was a tired fellow yesterday.

When people ask Thomas Keating about the problem of falling asleep during Centering Prayer, he says that is just your body's way of telling you that you need rest. Return to your prayer, and maybe go to sleep earlier tonight.
